Contact Lenses
Contact lenses have been an alternative for glasses for nearly 50 years. I mean to tell you, that they have come a long, long way over that time. I want to compare their advances to the differences between the telegraph versus the cell phone. Contacts are now in a league of their own.
Most people think of contacts as a cosmetic alternative to glasses. For the most part, this is true. In my opinion, contact lenses also offer superior vision to glasses in most cases. With the latest technology, most individuals, barring any diseases, can now wear contact lenses. I'm telling you, it's great! Contacts are now designed for most prescriptions. Hey, if you have high astigmatism or high prescriptions, we've got you covered. If you're in a bifocal, and would like to use contacts, I've got you covered there too with a little trick that I've used for years called monovision. Sound interesting?
Of special note:
When a patient with a significant problem is corrected with the use of contact lenses, their vision is usually much more crisp and clear than the vision they would receive while looking through a pair of glasses. For most of my patients, using contacts as compared to glasses is like the difference between night and day.
